The best Tapas restaurant in Port de Pollenca, possibly even the north of the island. I could go so far as to say the whole island but my experience south is limited, but lets assume the best of the whole island for now ;-) Before we go any further we need to define the scale between 1 and 5 for types of Tapas restaurants. Down at the 1 level is the bar or restaurant which adds a Tapas menu and do a decent job but their focus is elsewhere. Then you have the middle ground, the 3 of the Tapas world which I would say is a good Spanish Tapas restaurant around the tourist attractions like the Pine Walk in Port de Pollenca, good, but a bit safe, your bread and butter of the Tapas world. At the top end is the Paco Tapas (its a superb Tapas restaurant in Bristol, UK of all places), they spend hours talking about Sherry, and they deliver a chefs menu like nothing else. Love the experience! La Barra is a 4 maybe even a 4.5. I'm not defining my rating here, I am defining the type of Tapas restaurant. They're delivering the quality of a type 5, but the family atmosphere of a 3. They're great. The restaurant is a little of the tourist attraction beaten path, but its a short block from the sea front and on a pedestrian street with plenty of restaurants. Its worth the walk. Quick bit on the restaurant itself. Seating outside and inside, with a cool stone wall decor, a bar at the rear and a single, generous sized restroom. Perfect. Sangria made from scratch in two sizes, no premixed from a bottle here, even better. The menu offers a great range of traditional Tapas dishes with a few surprises, you have the basics such as Potato Bravas, Chicken Nuggets through to Garlic Shrimp, Squid and even Gourmet Burgers which are smaller than a Slider that you'd find in the US but a perfect miniature burger. The real star of the meal, was the least expensive, Potato Bravas, cooked to perfection with the accompanying sauce in a small bowl on the side, the sauce was in a different league to the tomato sauce you get thrown over the potatoes down there in type 1-3 Tapas restaurants, this was perfect, and had a little hint of chili to give it a nice warmth. And of course if the restaurant takes the time to make a 4.20 euro dish that good, they're going to great lengths to make the Garlic Shrimp at 8 euro something next level as well. And they do. So, a family friendly restaurant with the best Tapas you'll find on an evening in Port de Pollenca, great staff, and reasonably priced. Give the sea front a miss, and visit La Barra Tapas and Wine Restaurant!

My husband and I ate here with our 3 young children and we had a fantastic experience. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the paella and we shared squid rings. The squid rings were perfectly cooked. The red wine sangria was just right. The wait staff were attentive and interacted playfully with our children and baby. It was a gorgeous night for eating alfresco and the outdoor seating area was intimate. It was a lovely evening out, and we appreciated getting the bill quickly once we were finished. We would come back again!

Ottima la qualità della materia prima utilizzata con sorprendente presentazione della tapas nel piatto. La creatività dello chef nell'abbinamento pesce e contorno è davvero di altissimo livello specialmente con la lubina con purè al curry e arancia. Locale ideale per cenare senza fretta in totale relax condividendo i vari piatti con gli altri commensali al tavolo. Servizio impeccabile puntuale e attento al cliente.

Just finished our tapas here and it was gorgeous and very good quality. Really brilliant value for money. There were 6 of us, recommended approx 7 dishes but we ordered a 8 plus 2 sides of bread and olives bottle of wine, litre jug sangria, couple of bottles of water, soft drinks and 2 puddings and it worked out less than 20 Euros per person. There was a little wait for the biscuit which accompanied the white chocolate mousse but that was because the chef made a batch fresh there and then, sooo lovely still warm from the oven. The dude who served us was really friendly, spoke Spanish, Catalan, German, French and Italian (and English). The ambiance was quite authentic Spanish with modern twist and I know this is probably a bit strange, but we were all impressed with the toilet, it was modern and very clean. Decent selection of veggie dishes and partially open kitchen which looked spick and span. Definitely recommend and definitely returning next time we come to Puerto Pollensa.

Very friendly staff. Food was superb the variety and ambience was amazing. Good for gluten free choices, most of menu is possible. I would recommend the sea bass tapas. Can't wait to return.

A interesting mixed menu, different and very good but what made our night special was the staff who were so friendly and nice. Highly recommended.
